Summary:A survey was made to find appropriate use of the Rio Macho watershed in Costa Rica. The possible exploitation of the zone for forest products and agriculture and cattle was discarded due to the low yield of the forest and unfavorable characteristics of the environment. To secure maximum benefits from the area, multiple-use management is suggested with water-electricity production as the main objective, and recreation as a secondary goal.
