Description
Summary:Recent research conducted in Turrialba, Costa Rica, found that Trichogramma sp. parasitizes the eggs of Hypsipyla grandella. Although Trichogramma spp. have been described as parasites of H. robusta eggs in Asia and Australia, the existence of Trichogramma as a parasite of H. grandella eggs in Latin America was previously unknown. Observations taken during the rainy season in Turrialba indicated that 10-40 percent of H. grandella eggs in a Cedrela odorata plantation were parasitized by this species.
