Summary:0. 4.7, 9.4, 18.8 and 28.2 ppm (0.6.25, 12.5, 25.0 and 37.5 I/ha) of 1.2- Dibromo -3- chloropropane (DBCP, Fumazone´ or Nemagon) were tested to determine their effect upon the soil metabolism measured in terms of CO2 production. It was found that the nematicide application depressed CO2 evolution during the two first weeks of incubation, while after three weeks all treatments but 28.2 ppm enhaced the soil metabolism in comparison with the checks sample (0 ppm).
