Sumario:Seeds were collected from two species of fast growing tropical pioneer trees from Mexico. The seeds were subjected to different conditions of temperature, light and storage Beloria campbellii showed strong initial endogenous dormancy and high germination after periods of storage. The germination of Heliocarpus clonell-smithii was favored by high temperature, thermoperiod and previous heating. Both types of dormancy are discussed
