La competencia radical no tiene influencia significativa sobre el peso del forraje del maní, la competencia entre vástagos si presenta un efecto significativo en su crecimiento. El efecto de competencia significativo de las hierbas sobre el maní fue observado luego de un periodo de desarrollo de 42 días. Se concluye que la competencia por la luz entre vástagos es la de mayor importancia cuando el maní está infestado con hierbas.
