description Sometimes the low branches of citrus trees are wetted during herbicide spray treatments. When the chemical has postemergence properties, damage will be surely shown. The paper describe the application of water on the branches wetted of young trees, deliberatively sprayed immediately after, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours and without it. The following chemicals: were involved: MCPA, glyphosate(Roundup), glufosinate (Finale), fluroxipir (Starane), oxifluorfen (Goal), paraquat + diquat (Gramoxone plus) and a commertial mixture of glyphosate + MCPA (Fusta). Two evaluation of damage were done: 3 days after the treatment and 240 days after the treatment. The application of water was not effective with Finale (Grufosinate) and Starane (fluroxypir), perhaps it is needed superiors volumen of water. Gramoxone plus is the less phytotoxic product in the last evaluation. The water application can lessen the damages if immediately after the spray treatment is done.
