Sumario:In the north of the province of Buenos Aires there are more than 6,600 livestock establishments. Simultaneously, in this region there are vast nonagricultural lands suitable for forestry production. The implementation of mixed productive systems can represent an opportunity to integrate livestock and forestry production, generating environmental goods and services. The choice of the best forest genetic material for these systems is important. In 2019, an assay with 15 genetic materials was established. Survival and height growth at the first year were evaluated. In the fourth year, the diameter at 1.3 meters above ground level and the percentage of radiation transmitted under the canopy were measured. High survival and good initial growth were observed in the hybrid clones and Eucalyptus dunnii. Light interception was higher in Eucalyptus dunnii and in clones H105 and G279. These preliminary results are promising, however, new evaluations are required to select the best materials for these systems in the North of Buenos Aires.
