Summary:This short communication describes a study conducted to determine whether antibodies to lee -encoded proteins are detectable in mucosal secretions from the terminal colon and rectum in adult yearling cattle following E coli o157:h7 infection, and whether parenteral immunisation with the trans-located intimin receptor (Tir) protein boosts the mucosal response to the homologous antigen.
