En el monte oriental rionegrino coexisten dos estratos vegetales: herbáceo y arbustivo (Kröpfl, 2015). El incremento en el porcentaje de la cobertura arbustiva afecta la productividad general de los campos ganaderos, debido a la disminución de la accesibilidad al forraje por parte de los animales y la menor cobertura proporcional de herbáceas.
