Se utilizó la información georreferenciada de 85 tropas de diferentes cuencas de producción en el Norte de la Provincia de Jujuy. La primariedad fue estudiada mediante la utilización del índice de primariedad de notas de arcaísmo. El índice se construyó en base a seis caracteres etnozootécnicos y sus respectivas variantes fenotípicas asignándoles una nota de arcaísmo. El análisis geoestadístico consistió en la transformación de las coordenadas geográficas, obtención de un semivariograma empírico, ajuste y evaluación de diferentes modelos de semivariograma y por interpolación kriging obtención de un mapa de variabilidad espacial del índice. Como resultado se realizó la interpolación por kriging ordinario a partir del modelo y parámetros del semivariograma exponencial. El mapa de variabilidad espacial del índice de primariedad arroja rangos de valores entre 0.35 y 0.70 indicando una fuerte variación espacial de la primariedad que presentan las tropas estudiadas. El análisis geoestadístico permitió delimitar diferentes áreas, donde si bien la mayor parte de la región relevada reviste una condición de primariedad, se observó un área bien delimitada en la parte central y superior de la región (Cieneguilla) con los valores bajos de primariedad indicando un proceso de estandarización.
