Sumario:We are pleased to share with you our SmartAg Partner newsletter, highlighting policy engagement and ongoing research in the first quarter of 2017. In Uganda, CCAFS and IITA partnered with the government to build the capacity of district stakeholders to implement the national climate change policy. Read more on how the local government is reinstating the coffee and cotton ordinance to address the impacts of climate change. In Kenya, CCAFS together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and the Directorate of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources held a meeting with climate change negotiators and partners from civil society and international organizations, to discuss progress made on the integration of agriculture in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) negotiations and how this links to Kenya’s national strategic priorities.
