(CIAT) Se presentan los resultados de investigacion realizada en el Centro Regional de Investigacion El Carmen durante 1987A-1988A. El proceso de seleccion var. se realiza en 3 fases consecutivas: F1C1 la primera generacion clonal de F1, ensayos preliminares de rendimiento y ensayos de rendimiento. Se detallan los criterios de seleccion utilizados en cada uno de los ensayos y se enumeran los clones seleccionados. Para los diferentes ensayos se presentan datos de rendimiento, acumulacion de MS, peso fresco de raices comerciales, niveles de ramificacion, longitud del pedunculo de la raiz e IC. Igualmente, se da informacion parcial sobre el primer ciclo de experimentacion sobre 3 habitos de ramificacion (tardia o media, muy tardia o alta, sin ramificacion) observados en la var. regional Venezolana.
