To introduce desirable characteristics into Phaseolus vulgaris, 70 accessions of 3 other Phaseolus species (P. acutifolius, P. coccineus, and P. lunatus) were also evaluated. P. acutifolius and P. coccineus were notable for their high levels of sensitivity. Results are included in table form. (CIAT)

(CIAT) La evaluacion de la respuesta del frijol al fotoperiodo en la seleccion por floracion continuo en CIAT-Palmira, utilizando fotoperiodos artificiales de 18 h para retrasar la floracion. Se evaluaron aprox. 600 accesiones de germoplasma en 1986 como parte de esfuerzos continuos para caracterizar respuestas de germoplasma en distintas regiones productoras de frijol. Tambien se evaluaron 70 accesiones de otras 3 especies de Phaseolus (P. acutifolius, P. coccineus y P. lunatus), para introducir caracteristicas deseables a P. vulgaris. P. acutifolius y P. coccineus se destacaron por sus altos niveles de sensibilidad. Se incluyen los resultados tabulados.
