(CIAT) El Programa de Frijol de Malawi distribuyo las var. mejoradas de frijol Sapelekedwa, Nasaka, 8-7, 5-2 y 25-2 x 8-7 entre 5 agricultores de poblaciones de los alrededores del Bunda College of Agriculture. La var. Sapelekedwa (unica liberada por el programa) produjo los mas altos rendimientos (900 kg/ha). Los rendimientos de las var. Nyauzembe y White Tipo II (25-2 x 8-7) fueron la mitad del rendimiento de Sapelekedwa. Se detectaron problemas asociados con la extension y se enumeran algunas recomendaciones para superarlos.
