(CIAT) Se presentan los datos existentes sobre la produccion y el consumo de batata, yuca, name, papa, malangay y mazombelle para tener elementos basicos que permitan analizar la problematica de estos cultivos en Haiti. Se indican los ecosistemas en los cuales se cultivan, las caracteristicas de las fincas, la mano de obra requerida, los sistemas de cultivo, y los costos, vol. y limitaciones de la produccion. Se discuten el procesamiento y mercadeo de los productos, la demanda domestica por productos frescos y procesados y sus limitaciones; es de anotar que estos cultivos son solamente consumidos a nivel local. Se analizan las politicas gubernamentales y se indican las instituciones, personal, capacitacion y presupuesto involucrados en la investigacion. Finalmente se dan algunas recomendaciones sobre el enfoque que se debe tomar en relacion con la investigacion.
