(CIAT) En 1983, la seccion de hortalizas del Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario, Colombia, inicio actividades de seleccion y cruzamiento con 52 materiales de habichuela de crecimiento determinado y 162 de crecimiento indeterminado obtenidos de semilla comercial y del banco de germoplasma del CIAT. En 1987, se seleccionaron 3 var. exptl. de crecimiento determinado de buen comportamiento general que estan en multiplicacion para pruebas regionales en diferentes zonas productoras. Diez y siete lineas de crecimiento indeterminado de la generacion F8 se encuentran en el campo para evaluacion; se espera seleccionar 4-5 lineas estables durante 1987.
