Information is also provided on the geographical distribution of pests, geographic association among mites, phytoseiid diet analysis (acarine food types, nonacarine food types, cannibalism), and alternative biological control agents. (CIAT) Se presentan los resultados de investigacion en entomologia y acarologia de yuca con el fin de desarrollar metodologias para proteger el cultivo efectivas, ambientalmente acertadas y de bajo costo que estabilizaria la produccion y asi se evitaria el uso de pesticidas. Se hace enfasis en el control biologico, la resistencia de la planta hospedante y las practicas agricolas. Entre las plagas se citan a Phenacoccus manihoti, P. herreni, Pseudococcus mandio, Erinnyis ello, Bemisia tabaci, B. tuberculata, Aleurotrachelus socialis, Trialeurodes variabilis, Cyrtomenus bergi y Amblystira machalana. Entre los acaros se incluyen Mononychellus tanajoa y Oligonychus gossypii. Se informa tambien sobre la distribucion geografica de las plagas, la asociacion geografica entre acaros, analisis de la dieta de fitooseidos (tipos de alimentacion de acaros, tipos de alimentacion sin acaros, canibalismo) y agentes alternos para el control biologico.
