Se logro un progreso substancial en el desarrollo de var. resistentes a BCMV y roya (CIFAC 1277 y CIFAC 1288), con buena adaptacion en el Valle de Chincha. Otro avance significativo fue el establecimiento del primer expt. de la red, el ensayo uniforme de rendimiento para frijol voluble y arbustivo para la Sierra/1985. En ambos ensayos, las mejores lineas avanzadas se incluyeron en los programas regionales de Cuzco y Cajamarca. Hasta el momento, 6 lineas (A 59, San Cristobal 83, BAT 1393, G 4523, V 8025 y G 4495) han sido seleccionadas por su buena adaptacion y altos rendimientos en condiciones de sequia. En el Valle de Chincha, se seleccionaron 5 lineas (G 6278, G 2587, G 3736, A 211 y FR 2811) por su resistencia a los nematodos (Meloidogyne sp.).
