The involvement of farmers in research planning and criteria for selecting farmers for different research situation needs, farmer information elicitation methods, farmer identification of research problems and solutions, and farmer evaluation of alternative technologies need more research emphases. (AS) Se revisan los resultados de la investigacion agronomica y se dan sugerencias para otras investigaciones. Se necesita que la investigacion proporcione metodos que faciliten al agricultor la incorporacion del frijol trepador a sus sistemas tradicionales de produccion de cultivos. La gran brecha entre el potencial genetico de rendimiento y los resultados actuales en los campos de los agricultores indican la necesidad de realizar investigaciones en la fisiologia del rendimiento del frijol. Se deben identificar, validar y mejorar modelos computarizados de simulacion y de sistemas expertos apropiados para la investigacion en frijol. Se debe hacer enfasis en la investigacion del compromiso de los agricultores en la planeacion de la investigacion y los criterios de seleccion de agricultores para diferentes necesidades de la situacion de la investigacion, los metodos para obtener informacion del agricultor, la identificacion de problemas y soluciones de la investigacion y la evaluacion de tecnologias alternativas por parte del agricultor.
