description Since considerable progress has been made in the yielding ability and disease resistance through single-trait selection of cassava material for HI, branching type, or resistance to CBB (Xanthomonas campestris pv. manihotis) and superelongation [Sphaceloma (Elsinoe) manihoticola], emphasis in selection has gradually shifted towards overall performance over several years at each selection site. Production of hybrid seeds by controlled pollination was increased 4-fold after critical pest problems were overcome. (CIAT)

Production of hybrid seeds by controlled pollination was increased 4-fold after critical pest problems were overcome.
