(CIAT) Se hace un analisis economico de la produccion de yuca en Colombia, tomando como base los rendimientos obtenidos por agricultores entrevistados en 5 regiones diferentes. Los rendimientos tienden a ser mayores a medida que se aumenta el tamano de la finca, con un promedio de 8 y 14 ton/ha en la mejor zona para fincas pequenas y grandes, respectivamente. El rendimiento promedio obtenido se estimo en 6,2 ton/ha, el cual es mas bajo que el promedio oficial nacional de 8 ton. Hubo marcadas variaciones en los precios recibidos por los agricultores de una zona a otra, pero el tamano de la finca no afecto el precio. Los costos variaron, tendiendo a ser mas altos para las fincas grandes, pero los costos totales por ton. fueron mas bajos. Se suministran datos sobre los costos de produccion y de la tierra, asi como sobre el ingreso neto por zona. La tasa de retorno del capital invertido tiende a incrementarse a medida que se incremente el tamano de la finca.
