| Sumario: | In response to the need for improving livelihoods of small-holder farmers in Nyando, a collaborative action research project was initiated by ILRI, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agricultural Technology (JKUAT), and the CCAFS partners on the ground. The project aims to efficiently and sustainably increase the production of meat and milk from small ruminants (SR) and to improve incomes of small-holder farmers within the “climate smart villages† of Lower Nyando. The project activities of 2014 were geared towards gaining a clear understanding of the situation on the ground with regard to the existing SR population, and of the communities in the areas targeted.
