| Sumario: | This paper reviews the research progress made in pathology within the bean research network in Africa over the period 1985-92. Attention is drawn selectively to the most pertinent advances in preference to a fully comprehensive description of all work conducted in the region. A discussion of disease priorities on the basis of crop loss estimates is followed by a review of research highlights from the major diseases.
