Summary:This document is divided in eight parts, viz, global framework; background; ILRI-CIP; natural resource management; operational framework; issues and themes; integrating results at farm level, and reference. The first part presents the Earth Summit's agenda for change-chapter 13 of agenda 21. The second part, background looks into problems, role of livestock, competing in local markets, and features of Andean region. The third part, ILRI-CIP, deals with the purpose of the ILRI-CIP activities. The fourth part highlights key aspects and features considered in the analysis. The operational framework presents conceptual, methodological and strategic operational framework of livestock ecoregional research activities in the Andean region. The fifth part presents issues and themes considered in the crop livestock ecoregional research activities in the Andean region. The last part looks into models and simulation; and results of the systems approach.
