Part one discusses project activities including characterization of land use systems and resource management policy, management of acid soils with special reference to nutritional, organic matter and temperature constarints, water management in rainfed mixed crop-livestock systems, intensification of mixed crop-livestock systems and human resource management. Other topics considered are an interinstitutional approach to resource management and expected outputs. The topics considered in part two are an overview of past research and constraints to technology development and adoption, need for change, research themes, training and information, and an ecoregional approach to resource management. Under these topics overview of past research, constraints to technology development and adoption, characterization of land use systems & resource management policy, germplasm tolerance to abiotic stresses, soil and water management for improved cropping systems, nutrient management and cycling in crop-livestock systems, and technology testing and impact assessment are discussed. |
