Secondly, estimation of the repeatabilities of these aspects of trypanosome infection relative to repeatabilities of performance traits was undertaken. This would indicate possible upper limits to their degree of genetic determination and heritability. Thirdly, the effects on calf weaning weight of control of parasitaemia and anaemia development in both the calf and its dam were evaluated simultaneously with the objective of providing indications as to whether a test for trypanotolerance might be feasible early in the animals life. |
