Sumario:This technical report evaluates the integration of mechanized direct seeding (mDSR) and fertilizer deep placement in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta to address the inefficiencies of traditional manual broadcasting. By utilizing air-assisted row seeders, this technology reduces seed rates by 50% and fertilizer use by 20% while enhancing crop resilience against pests and lodging. These optimizations lead to higher rice quality, lower production costs, and at least a 10% reduction in the carbon footprint per kilogram of rice. Furthermore, the method simplifies labor by reducing fertilizer applications to just two stages, supporting the region's goals for high-quality, low-emission rice production.
