description This repository contains initial explorations and prototyping to support early discussions for CGIAR Sustainable Farming Program prioritization. It is the result of brainstorming and testing to refine variable selection, weighting, and aggregation for country-level prioritization. As a prototype, it is focused on experimentation rather than informing finalized decisions, and it can be easily modified to include different indicators, methods, etc. The analysis classifies risk-related variables into exposure and vulnerability components, normalizes them for comparability, and combines them into a single urgency index highlighting countries where agricultural systems face the greatest combined pressure. In parallel, complementary indices of need and capacity are constructed to indicate where support is most required and where delivery is most feasible. Indicators span agricultural, economic, and institutional dimensions and are adjusted for country size, rural population, and agricultural GDP. Results are categorized into low, moderate, and high levels and visualized using bivariate maps to support interpretation. The repository includes two Quarto documents (.qmd) that can be rendered with the below commands: quarto render country_analysis.qmd quarto render sfp_report.qmd country_analysis.qmd presents final prioritization outputs, including primary and secondary country groups, top countries by Area of Work, and within-country priority zones. sfp_report.qmd provides a more detailed description of the analysis and indicators, without producing country rankings. The repository is designed to share reproducible results and documentation while excluding large raw datasets. The results/ directory contains all processed outputs required to reproduce the reported analyses.
