| description | A monitoring and evaluation process has been conducted during 2025 in Chimaltenango and Santa Rosa, this brief is an extract of the Report "From design to action: Evidence of implementation and scaling up of agroclimatic services in Guatemala"
The monitoring and evaluation process has aimed to analyze the scope, effectiveness, understanding and use of the community agroclimatic bulletin, as well as its influence on agricultural decision-making and community circulation of information. This exercise has had the participation of the Private Institute for Climate Change Research (ICC) in Chimaltenango and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAGA) in Santa Rosa, has covered the departments of Chimaltenango and Santa Rosa and has been developed during the period between August and September 2025.
In this context, the Community agroclimatic bulletin has demonstrated a high relevance and a clear practical value for farmers, since more than 60% have reported positive results derived from informed decisions based on its use. Dissemination has reached farming communities in both departments, with balanced gender participation and active peer-to-peer circulation of information. The visual format in capsules has contributed significantly to improving the understanding and community circulation of content, especially in Chimaltenango. In Santa Rosa, although challenges of understanding have persisted, the bulletin has been actively used as an input for agricultural decision-making. In terms of effectiveness, the dissemination strategy has facilitated the knowledge, use and community circulation of agroclimatic information, and has been more effective in contexts where there has been mediation by ICC and MAGA staff. |
