| Sumario: | This report summarizes the activities and outcomes of the 2025 on-the-job training on the New Generation of Seasonal Hydrological Forecasts for West Africa and the Sahel, conducted at AGRHYMET from October 7 to November 4, 2025. The extensive workshop strengthened the capacity of hydrology experts, enabled 41 hydrology professionals, including 16 women, from 17 West African and Sahelian countries to produce objective, data-driven, and reproducible seasonal hydrological forecasts using R tools and Machine Learning models. Over four weeks, participants progressed from basic hydrological scripting in R to executing ensemble forecasts incorporating statistical and machine-learning models, supplemented by the Python CPT framework. The sessions emphasized complete pipeline thinking, from raw data preparation to model interpretation, thereby advancing AGRHYMET’s regional mandate to standardize operational hydrological prediction in line with WMO Decision 9 (EC-72). The outcomes show a tangible strengthening of institutional capacity, enabling countries to build reproducible, transparent hydrological forecasting workflows and support the long-term operational hydrological prediction capabilities of National Hydrological Services.
