Sumario:This report presents twelve evidence-based recommendations for strengthening the adaptation components of the third generation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0), due in 2025. Against a backdrop of record warming and a significant adaptation finance gap, the guidance is structured around three strategic pillars: Raising Ambition: Encourages countries to plan for a full range of climate scenarios, set measurable targets aligned with the UAE Framework for Global Climate Resilience, integrate adaptation with development and mitigation, and prioritize nature-based solutions. Accelerating Implementation: Focuses on aligning NDCs with National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), enhancing governance coordination, fostering inclusive and participatory approaches, strengthening science-policy linkages, and establishing robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems. Strengthening Enablers: Emphasizes the critical need to build institutional and human capacity and to unlock adaptation finance at scale by leveraging diverse sources and creating conducive policy environments. The recommendations provide a flexible framework for countries to enhance their climate resilience, protect development gains, and contribute to the global adaptation agenda.
