description Women and youth are key actors in Africa’s agricultural and pastoral systems, contributing significantly to production, processing, and marketing. Facing climate risks, equitable access to Climate Information Services (CIS) is essential for strengthening the resilience of rural communities, by taking into account gender realities. This study assesses the impact of AICCRA interventions promoting CIS and Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) on women’s empowerment in the regions of Thiès, Louga, Kaffrine, Kaolack, and Fatick in Senegal. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with women and key stakeholders, using purposive sampling in project intervention areas. Analytical techniques, including multiple logistic regression were applied to identify empowerment determinants, while Propensity Score Matching allowed estimation of the intervention’s effects. Results reveal that men retain greater household decision-making power, yet women in intervention villages demonstrate higher empowerment levels than those in non-intervention areas. AICCRA’s activities have positively influenced women’s empowerment, highlighting the need to sustain and scale up such initiatives to enhance women’s adaptive capacity to climate change.
