description Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) works with national and regional partners across Africa to provide access to—and enable the use of— enhanced climate information services and validated technologies and practices for climate-smart agriculture for millions of smallholder farmers across the continent. As part of project efforts to address the current limited linkages between ICPAC/KMD and beneficiary communities at local levels, a climate demonstration pilot was proposed by the project to support structured interaction between users, researchers and climate service providers in Kenya. Machakos County was selected based on a set of jointly agreed criteria. The main aim of the climate demonstration is to develop and implement adaptation strategies and measures that will strengthen the resilience of vulnerable sectors (particularly in agriculture, food security, water and energy sectors) to climate variability and change. It is against this backdrop that ICPAC and KMD held a Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP) training and workshop in Machakos County, Kenya for MAM 2025 Rainfall season from 18-20 February 2025. The workshop objective was geared towards generation of sectoral advisories based on the MAM 2025 downscaled seasonal forecast and related information. The workshop will bring together various stakeholders in the agricultural and food security, and water and energy sectors, among others. The theme of the workshop will be: "Climate Services for Closing Early Warning Gap Together".
