Description
Summary:This training was delivered through a partnership with SNV Kenya (through CRAFT programme), the Alliance of Bioversity & CIAT provided the technical input—adapting the CSA investment-planning methodology and training modules developed for Kenya. The Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development (MoALD) and the Kenya Climate-Smart Agriculture Multi-Stakeholder Platform (CSA-MSP) led facilitation and coordination, ensuring broad participation from county technical teams and sector stakeholders. The training equipped participants to design inclusive, bankable CSA investments aligned with national policy and devolved finance (e.g., FLLoCA). Core modules covered: climate-risk and value-chain prioritization; CSA investment planning and prioritization; alignment with legal/policy frameworks; monitoring, evaluation and enhanced transparency reporting; climate-finance pathways; inclusive participation (gender and youth); and concept-note design. The workshop culminated in prioritized opportunities across crops, livestock and environment, and draft concepts ready for refinement through county MSP processes. The partnership demonstrated how evidence-based tools and coordinated facilitation can translate national CSA plans into actionable county.
