| description | The CGIAR Climate Smart Governance (CSG) Dashboard has been developed by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in partnership with Sri Lanka's National Planning Department (NPD) and the Climate Change Secretariat (CCS) of the Ministry of Environment. The comprehensive tool to enhance disaster management strategies in Sri Lanka are being significantly supported by the Climate Smart Governance (CSG) dashboard. This dashboard provides data on climate-related hazards, population vulnerability, forecast climate scenarios, and sectorspecific information including water, health, agriculture, and ecosystems. It also includes data on infrastructure and climate-related projects, which is essential for coordinated mid- to long-term adaptation planning aligned with global development goals.
The provincial workshop was conducted to ensure the effective utilization of the CSG dashboard and introduce it to stakeholders across various departments in the Western Province to strengthen provincial project preparation and monitoring. This included key entities such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Roads, Provincial Department of Agriculture, and the Western Provincial Council. The primary objective of the workshop was to familiarize participants with the Climate Smart Governance Dashboard and demonstrate its benefits for disaster management and adaptation planning. By integrating the CSG dashboard into their strategies, these departments can enhance their disaster management efforts and better align with global climate resilience objectives. The program concluded with a discussion focused on the projects that have been completed at the district and provincial levels related to disaster mitigation, adaptation, and cross-cutting initiatives. This discussion provided an overview of the outcomes of these projects and examined the challenges encountered during their implementation. Participants reviewed both the successes and issues faced in completed projects, providing valuable insights into their effectiveness and areas for improvement. |
