Water-led climate adaptation of agriculture in Cambodia’s flood plains: towards a grounded geospatial approach

Climate change severely impacts rice-based agriculture in the Cambodian Mekong Delta, threatening both food security and livelihoods. Farmers face increasing pressure to adapt, with irrigation expansion and crop diversification being key strategies. This research investigates the feasibility of thes...

description Climate change severely impacts rice-based agriculture in the Cambodian Mekong Delta, threatening both food security and livelihoods. Farmers face increasing pressure to adapt, with irrigation expansion and crop diversification being key strategies. This research investigates the feasibility of these adaptation measures across diverse production ecologies within the Delta. Through comparative case studies, we aim to assess climate-related threats, evaluate adaptation options, and explore spatially targeted strategies for their implementation, building upon existing climate-smart mapping and adaptation planning frameworks.
