description This report provides a comprehensive update on the outcomes of the animal recording and decision support system Dtreo (Dtreo platform), focusing on the integration of the Community-Based Breeding Program (CBBP) with the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) project. This initiative aims to enhance livestock productivity and sustainability through improved data recording and decision-making tools. The report outlines the successful integration of data from various sources into the Dtreo platform, which supports real-time analytics and decision-making for smallholder farmers, researchers, and policymakers. This integration facilitates better management of livestock breeding and performance recording, ultimately improving and facilitating genetic selection and resource allocation. Significant efforts have been made to build the capacity of stakeholders involved in CBBPs. Data and information are critical components to enhance data management skills and ensure the effective use of the Dtreo platform. This has led to improved data quality and is intended to support increased participation from local farmers and cooperatives in the CBBP. A pilot initiative to support measurement greenhouse gas emissions, specifically methane emissions, from sheep and goats using Laser Methane Detector (LMD) technology is described. This initiative aims to establish the infrastructure required to store and analyse baseline methane emissions data within smallholder livestock systems, either participating or not of CBBPs. It aims to support the development of long-term sustainable breeding practices in these systems. There is a need for ongoing development and enhancement of the Dtreo platform to support additional functionalities, such as feeding and fattening activities, sales of livestock, fate assessment, and using these data to support more complex genetic evaluations. These advancements will further improve decision-making processes and contribute to the overall sustainability of livestock production systems. The CBBP has expanded to include 31 new villages in Ethiopia, with a focus on both sheep and goat breeding underpinning expansion and outreach of more efficient commercial production within villages and communities. This expansion is supported by 11 institutions, including universities and research centers, which have been trained in data collection and management. The inclusion of women-led CBBPs highlights the project's commitment to gender inclusivity and equitable access to resources1. This summary captures the key points of the report, highlighting the progress made in data integration, capacity development, greenhouse gas emissions recording, expansion efforts, and future directions for the integration between CBBP, its data flows, and AICCRA’s Agdata hub activities.
