description This study explores the role of rural entrepreneurship in driving sustainable development in the Peruvian Andes, with insights from the Perumin Inspira Challenge in 2023. It highlights the diversification of rural economies through innovative, value-added ventures that go beyond traditional agriculture and extractive industries. The research examines 65 entrepreneurial ventures from the Perumin Inspira Challenge, which target United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and span across agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, eco-tourism, and social impact. These ventures, led by both male and female entrepreneurs, showcase diverse economic impacts, with some focusing on high-value markets while others prioritize social benefits for larger populations. The analysis reveals gender and regional disparities in profit generation and outreach, emphasizing that while male-led businesses generally achieve higher profits, female-led ventures often serve more beneficiaries. Altitude also influences profitability, with higher-altitude ventures tending to generate lower profits. The paper concludes with recommendations for scaling local innovations by addressing gender disparities, geographical challenges, and market access, aiming to foster inclusive and sustainable growth in rural regions of Peru.
