Description
Summary:During a three-day workshop held in May 2024, over forty CGIAR researchers gathered to discuss the current status of systems science across CGIAR, together with representatives from partner institutions. Objectives of the workshop were to: I. Exchange approaches and experiences on systems research for more resilient agrifood systems, II. Identify the main knowledge gaps and topics where further systems research, education and development efforts should be directed, and III. Identify and formalize areas of opportunity for One CGIAR and science partners on systems research for more resilient agrifood systems. This technical summary aims to highlight the relevance of systems science within the research for development (R4D) context of CGIAR activities. It summarizes several important key messages that were delivered as an outcome of this workshop. This note also indicates the potential pathways to integrate system science into the CGIAR’s portfolio 2025-30.
