However, the adoption of these new digital technologies remains limited to a small number of actors, primarily urban or intermediary, potentially creating a divide between highly connected livestock farmers and others who are less connected. |

Les filières pastorales au Sénégal connaissent ces dernières années l’émergence de nouvelles formes de circulation d’information et de coordination basées sur l’utilisation du numérique. Les acteurs de ces filières, déjà équipés de téléphones mobiles depuis le début du XXIe siècle, commencent à utiliser le smartphone et ses fonctionnalités : vocaux, transferts d’images et de vidéo au sein de groupes de discussion, transferts d’argents. Ces usages répondent à des besoins spécifiques des systèmes pastoraux notamment liés à la mobilité des troupeaux et l’éloignement des acteurs. Cette transition technologique des filières pastorales intéresse de nombreux acteurs institutionnels (États, organisations de la société civile, entreprises) désireux de mieux contrôler cette économie ou de développer des relations commerciales avec les pasteurs. Ces pratiques semblent avoir le potentiel de mieux lier l’offre et la demande.
