Sumario:Sustaining animal production through the annual dry season is a challenge in the pastoral pasture-fed areas of Senegal. This is continuously aggravated by climate change, which is affecting livestock productivity in Senegal. Livestock production, especially pastoralism, is a vital part of the Senegalese economy. The government of Senegal through its Plan Sénégal Emergent (PSE) is advocating actions for mitigating the effects of climate change and support livelihoods. Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is an integrative approach to address these interlinked challenges of food security and climate change. Intervention in CSA practices requires prioritization to identify context-specific CSA practices and technologies for the livestock value chains within the various agro-ecological zones of Senegal. The study applied a mixed-method approach, involving participatory prioritization with livestock experts and value chains actors at national scale followed by focus group discussions with men and women farmers in Dahra in September 2022.
