Description
Summary:Identifying and assessing adaptation options are key pre-requisite steps to adaptation prioritization and effective adaptation planning. Through a systematic and evidence-based approach, 21 adaptation options were identified and assessed for their climate-smartness potential. Stakeholder engagement and participatory prioritization enabled to identify priority adaptation options for agri-food systems in The Gambia. The identified adaptation options represent a strategic portfolio of options, from which specific options can be tested and scaled up through participatory research action to generate evidence of their effectiveness in the Gambian context. On-going adaptation projects and policy processes in The Gambia, such as the National Adaptation Planning (NAP), also represent crucial pathways to build on for scaling adaptation options.
