Summary:Iron toxicity is one of the most important abiotic stresses limiting rice production in SSA lowlands and affects up to 60% of the lowland rice area in West and Central Africa. ARICA 6 has shown that it is high-yielding, well adapted to plains and lowlands and very tolerant of iron toxicity. Impact assessment showed that ARICA 6 variety increased rice yield by 330 kg ha-1 and net income by USD 120 ha-1.
