Sumario:Until 2019, Punjab?s marketing system was exclusively controlled by the public sector and suffered from inefficiencies and malpractices. IFPRI?s Pakistan Program team was instrumental in the development of the 2019 Punjab Agriculture Marketing Regulation Authority Ordinance, which constitutes a major step towards the reform of the sector through improving agricultural practices, defining standards and grading, promoting alternative marketing channels and regulating registration and training of marketing service providers. Farmers, consumers, and private sector actors will strongly benefit from this system.
