Sumario:The experiences of subnational REDD+ initiatives in the Peruvian Amazon provide valuable lessons for the design and implementation of national greenhouse gas mitigation efforts. We highlight the importance of spatial targeting, customised rewards and conditionality of rewards to contribute to achieving more effective results in REDD+ initiatives.
