During the past three decades, numerous scientific papers covering various research areas have been published about the pest, however there is still a paucity of information on the biology and ecology of the insect so that proper control measures can be applied. In this review, the biology, ecology and the economic importance of AfRGM are discussed. We summarise the lifecycle, natural occurrence, geographical distribution, host range, and effect of abiotic and biotic factors on its incidence. The aim of this review is to increase our knowledge on this recalcitrant pest in Africa so that enhanced control can be achieved. |
