Summary:Africa is one of the most ecologically vulnerable continents in the world, with over 700 million hectares of degraded land and degradation progressing at a rate of 3% per year. However, evidence points to historical efforts for landscape restoration. Among the options for responding to key challenges is the use of species with considerable potential for restoring degraded lands, such as bamboo. This report aims to share lessons from the contribution of bamboo to restoration initiatives in Central and West Africa, which remain limited.
