| Sumario: | Underutilized crops generally refer to the traditional crops with less planting area, and have special adaptability to the traditional farming system. China has many such crops as barley, buckwheat, common millet, foxtail millet, oat and sorghum. We reviewed the characteristics, production, conservation of germplasm resources, seed system of underutilized crops. By assessing the impacts of national seed policies and identifying the obstacles on local seed system, the policy suggestions were put forward to promote the development of local seed system of underutilized crop in China.
