“…En Chile existen problemas fitosanitarios y varietales al establecer un huerto agrícola que provienen desde el material inicial, lo que conlleva a iniciar los proyectos con huertos fitosanitariamente afectados, este problema en algunas especies es clave, como en la vid, ya que la probabilidad existencia de virus en los materiales es en casi de un 100 %.A la vez existe en el país falta de oferta de diferentes especies y variedades (generalmente portainjertos de paltos, cerezas y carozos), generando una gran problemática para el desarrollo de la fruticultura, ya que son fundamentales para los proyectos de inicio de establecimiento de huertos. Dado lo anterior, en los últimos anos se ha intensificado la micropropagación in vitro en Chile, estableciéndose en los viveros laboratorios experimentales con el fin de propagar especies de manera más rápida y sana, obteniendo plantas de alta calidad, libres de enfermedades y más uniformes, ya que tiene la capacidad de producir grandes cantidades de plantas clonadas a partir de un individuo original manteniendo su patrimonio genético y mejorando su calidad fitosanitaria, existiendo grandes oportunidades para producir y distribuir material de alta calidad en los diferentes cultivos frutales, que gracias a nuevos conocimientos y otras experiencias tienen un valor fundamental para su desarrollo.La tecnología de micropropagación es más costosa que los métodos convencionales y requiere varios tipos de habilidades y conocimientos que muchas veces en Chile por falta de experiencia se quedan atrás, la oportunidad de conocer experiencias fuera del país es fundamental para acortar errores, que en costos productivos significan altos gastos.…”
