Climate change and ecological intensification of agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa – A systems approach to predict maize yield under push-pull technology
Published 2023“…Our review suggests variable impacts of climate change on PPT components in SSA by the end of the 21st century, including reduced soil fertility, increased weed and arthropod pest pressure and increased prevalence of crop diseases, but also increased biological control by pests' natural enemies. …”

High value crop products and rural prosperity: The role of operations research and analytics
Published 2023“…Moreover, the complexity of agriculture with multiple interactions between factors makes it nigh on impossible to obtain information on all the variables that might be important. Operations Research, which looks at an organization’s operations and uses mathematical or computer models, or other analytical approaches, to find better ways of doing things, overcomes many of the limitations of the traditional research methods. …”

Economic sustainability of Spanish table grapes in different water and technology contexts
Published 2017“…This work is aimed at analysing the effects of the main technological improvements introduced on farms and determining the economic consequences, derived from other production scenarios characterized by variability in irrigation-water supply and price. Mathematical programming has been applied to models established for representative farms in Murcia and Alicante. …”

Comparison of models for describing the lactation curve of latxa sheep and an analysis of factors affecting milk yield
Published 2000“…A total of 14,699 records from 2711 ewes, collected during three consecutive years (1995 to 1997) by the milk recording program of the Latxa ewe of the Basque Country (Spain), were used. Six mathematical models and three fitting procedures were compared. …”

Co-infections determine patterns of mortality in a population exposed to parasite infection
Published 2015“…Across our study population, this corresponds to a net reduction in mortality due to ECF of greater than 40%. Using a mathematical model, we demonstrate that this degree of heterologous protection provides a unifying explanation for apparently disparate epidemiological patterns: variable disease-induced mortality rates, age-mortality profiles, weak correlations between the incidence of infection and disease (known as endemic stability), and poor efficacy of interventions that reduce exposure to multiple parasite species. …”
